Meet Debra! Low-fee ($50-90) support for fellow neurodivergent, disabled, racialized, and LGBTQIA+ concerns
I work primarily with fellow neurodivergent, disabled, racialized, and LGBTQIA+ folks, welcoming you into a safe space for processing systemic and interpersonal trauma and exploring identity through a justice-oriented lens. I acknowledge the harms caused by systems of oppression and support you in your journey toward reclaiming your authenticity, living in alignment with your values, and finding your community. I also have experience supporting individuals within academia.
My approach to trauma therapy is integrative and draws inspiration from practices and theories including attachment theory, somatic, person-centred, parts-work, and Positive Disintegration. Above all, I strive to be anti-oppressive and client-led, and I adapt based on your lived experiences and needs.
I show up to our sessions with curiosity, genuineness, and trust in your lived experiences. I am committed to fostering safety, journeying alongside you, witnessing you through painful moments, celebrating your growth, and fighting for collective liberation.
Outside of counselling, Debra loves to read and can be found in city parks having heated (but playful) discussions about books over bubble tea. She also loves teaching Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Toronto and writing blog posts about neurodivergence for Embrace Autism.
